FlexPod Brand Refresh
In 2010 NetApp and Cisco released FlexPod, combining Cisco UCS integrated infrastructure and NetApp storage. In 2015, NetApp and Cisco hired Yeager to develop a cohesive brand and website for the product and that brand has endured. In 2019, Yeager was again asked to update the brand with a refreshed and modern look that would help stand out in an increasingly competitive market. NetApp and Cisco wanted to maintain elements of the brand that have equity, simplify certain elements of the brand to make it easier for global teams to implement and better align the brand to complement the brands of the parent companies.
Approach
Yeager audited how the brand was being used, looking at current content and digital assets to determine where the current brand was and wasn’t working. Through stakeholder interviews across job functions, NetApp, Cisco and Yeager explored likes and dislikes about the existing brand as well as challenges in using it and use case gaps. This was followed by a competitor review to differentiate the brand and help it stand out as a leader in the marketplace. The resulting strategy included a refresh to the color palette, patterns and design elements, photography, and iconography. The logo and typography were kept in place.

Results
Color – For the updated color palette, the team stayed away from colors that clash when developing co-branded partner materials. The primary color palette used modern colors that tied back to the former brand with a dusty blue and two new colors: deep ocean blue and seafoam green. The secondary palette was used for partner co-branded efforts. The tertiary palette is a lime green for gradients as well as for callouts and action buttons that gives a modern edge to the overall palette.
Patterns – Two different patterns were created to leverage the FlexPod “bubble” logo element within photography. The bubble was adjusted to denote movement reflecting growth and upward direction.
Iconography – A new icon library was developed in a simple line drawn style that better aligned with both the Cisco and NetApp iconography.
Photography – The team designed a library of images representing the industries FlexPod serves featuring diverse technology users and aspirational nature photography. A new design was developed for the product cabinet for use in marketing and sales materials.

Keystone Video Bumper
This video bumper was part of the global Data Visionary Loyalty Program created to communicate and reinforce the message that customers made the right, smart choice with NetApp Keystone, a new financial program that lets users minimize risk while building new infrastructure and managing their digital transformation.

This video bumper was part of the global Data Visionary Loyalty Program created to communicate and reinforce the message that customers made the right, smart choice with NetApp Keystone, a new financial program that lets users minimize risk while building new infrastructure and managing their digital transformation.
Approach
We built a visual theme and associated headline messaging for the NetApp Global Data Visionary Loyalty Program with the goal of helping sales and channel partners shift the customer conversation to customer value and offer defined guarantees and promises as another aspect of doing business with NetApp.
The primary goal of the video bumper was to build both awareness of and excitement for the new consumption model offering, establish a consistent visual identity for the program both internally and externally, align with partners, and distinguish Keystone assets from those tied to other products and programs offered.
This specific element of the program would visually communicate to internal personnel and external customers and prospects the Keystone value proposition message of:
- Buy with confidence
- Run with ease
- Evolve to any cloud
Results
NetApp wanted to instill confidence and a sense of investment protection for their customer’s lifecycle storage and data management needs. That drove the creative development of this 11-second video, which uses carefully synced audio and video in an intricate design. The power button represents the cloud and its inherent reliability, with a variety of elements moving around the periphery of the button to symbolize the multitude of items people place in the cloud. Bottom line: Without Keystone, you’re powerless. With Keystone, everything comes to life.

NetApp Partner Program
NetApp Partner Academy is an ongoing series of global events (Americas, APAC, EMEA) held to explore the latest NetApp® technology trends with thought leaders, product teams, and system engineers. Partners attend to build relationships with NetApp sales and technical teams, connect with peers, and develop new relationships that promote fresh ideas, leads, and business opportunities. NetApp engaged Yeager Marketing to develop a new creative branding theme for 2020 NetApp Partner Academy events. This theme focused on the concept of “speed” as NetApp shifted their partner marketing strategy from a product focus to a sales enablement focus and ensuring partners are educated about, and equipped with, the tools they need to close deals quickly.
Approach
NetApp curated feedback from both global and regional partners who wanted to see the partner brand elevated to something reflecting speed as they expressed they needed tools that could help them close deals faster. Many NetApp partners who access Partner Academy are based in Europe so images of motorcycles resembling Ducati models were incorporated to visually communicate sophistication, speed and quality.
