Are demand gen and lead gen the same thing?

Both are important but they are not the same. Lead gen focuses on capturing contact information from potential customers and nurturing and qualifying them into SQLs. Demand gen starts before then, taking a full-funnel approach to understanding the buyers’ journey. It focuses on delivering the right message to the right people at the right time in the right places, first building awareness and creating demand before capturing leads.

There are so many channels and tactics available, how do I choose the right mix?

It can be overwhelming to sift through the multitude of available channels and tactics. By taking a full-funnel view of your audience, we map tactics and channels to the funnel in order to ensure the right message is being delivered at the right time.

I need leads! Why should I focus on the top of the funnel?

Unless you have invested in building the top of your funnel, it will be difficult to get a lot out of the bottom of your funnel. You need to create demand in order to capture demand.

What is the 95-5 rule and why does it matter?

About 95% of business customers are not ready to buy at any given time. That means only about 1 in 20 are in the market for your product or service right now. But if you only focus on that 5% and ignore the other 95%, you’re already too late. You need to focus on your customers before they’re ready to be customers in order to establish trust and ensure you’re in the consideration set when they move in market.

What metrics and KPIs should I use to measure the success of my campaign?

This really depends on the channels you’re using and the goals of your campaign. For campaigns to build brand awareness, you might consider KPIs like reach, impressions, or CTR. Campaigns focused on the bottom of the funnel should be measured by KPIs such as conversion rate and cost-per-acquisition. You want to make sure that whatever metrics you choose, they are measuring the correct goals you’re trying to achieve, which means it can vary by campaign.
